A great tool and really easy to use

I am a landscape designer based in Tasmania. I recently blush this product and couldn’t be happier. Easy to use, easy to carry and very accurate. I especially love the way I can gain info on sloped sites.
I have already recommended it to several other businesses that I work with and even posted about it on Facebook. I believe that I am the first user of Moasure in Tasmania. I’m sure I won’t be the last.

Moasure on the Ranch

Time saving tool opposed to setting up a transit to verify slope and grade on ranch projects. I saw an advertisement for this handy tool while watching lawn sprinkler installation videos. As I set up my lawn sprinkler layout and set up the transit to shoot elevations around my property I decided to try the Moasure device. I ordered it and received it a few days later. There was a bit of a learning curve for me however an email I sent to Moasure support was answered quickly and my question about deleting files was answered. With my developing Moasure skills I have used this device to slope my corrals for water drainage, ran a waterline to an out building while maintaining a sloped elevation in the bottom of the trench, and to run a stock tank overflow line from the tank on the correct slope. This device saves me from packing around a tripod and transit, easy to carry it and the stick around in my equipment, and saves time setting up surveying equipment.

Game changer!

We've gone from transit levels, to zip levels, to now the Moasure. Each progress has been a welcome change. There's a little bit of a learning curve with the Moasure, but once I got it figured out, it's been amazing to capture measurements and elevations in one step and save them for our design software. Previously I would take all the measurements needed, then set up a grid in the yard to go back and take elevations, then manually input it all into our software. Now, it's walking around, getting points, and loading into the software. This easily saves 45-60 minutes on each initial visit! The attached picture was from a large backyard. This took me maybe 15 minutes to capture all the points and measurements.

Works great for landscape work! But walk and place correctly.

I have used Moasure to measure various landscape surfaces such as irregularly shaped pools, curvy lawns and sites. It works well. Except if you are trying to measure on a bumpy surface like uncut lawn, you have to make sure that the device is placed flat on an edge like a concrete band or you need to plan for flat surfaces where you can land the tool gently but clearly. It does not like to be askew. Also remember to walk at a good pace, but do not put the device too forcefully on the surface. I also love that you can measure elevations. I use it all the time to see what the slope is from a house or garage to the sidewalk/street for lawn removal projects. I believe my lawn removal rebate applications (for square footage) is as accurate as it can get using Moasure! Check out the overlap from Google Earth onto Moasure PDF import from the lawn measure. I have used the layers feature to mark where existing trees are on a lot measument including the circumference of the large trees. This makes life way easier than trying to triangulate with hand measurements.

The answer to what I have been needing for years

A practicing architect and avid weekend landscape project gardner owning a large bush property, I have been struggling for years measuring location of trees and forest paths and tried everything from GPS to expensive surveying, then I came across Moasure on a post and ordered it from New Zeal;and, it arrived promptly and was very easy to use and got some amazing results, within one day had over 1 km of bush paths all plotted and exported as a dxf file into my Autocad program and now have maps of my bush tracks, only just getting started

Not Just for Professionals! Easy for any DIY!

Recently, I just did a full renovation of my front lawn, which is A LOT of work! Before doing anything the first thing I had to do was measure out my property (for seed, dirt and fertilizer). In the past I would use Google Maps, but not anymore. As soon as I talked to Vish about Moasure ONE I was hooked. I realized that I was over measuring by a few hundred square feet. That means anytime I applied anything I was over applying, which results in money wasted. The issue with Google Maps (especially in the area in which I live), is that it is outdated and does not account for any additions in my lawn, which I have made. It's also very difficult to see up close to measure around flower beds (also depending on when the photo was shot there are casted shadows). All that doesn't matter if you use Moasure to measure as everything is all about precision and is calculated real-time. My whole yard can be measured with straight lines and the trace tool around areas with lots of curves like my patio and flower beds. So, with the help of the new and innovative tool I was able to successfully renovate my entire front lawn and have the whole neighborhood on notice!

Worst part of this device is not having one sooner!

Since my purchase, my lawn measurements have been much faster and easier with the Moasure One. I see alot of negative remarks about the device, but I can sum those up to inexperienced users. With a little trial and error to get used to the device, I found the accuracy to be spot on. I measured many square shapes with a measuring wheel and the Moasure One to compare accuracy. Knowing the accuracy was there, it has helped me with many odd shaped, almost impossible to measure lawns. Potential customers always comment on the device, and in many cases, I land the jobs due to their level of comfort with the process the Moasure One uses to calculate the square footage of their property. I highly recommend the Moasure One to anyone who needs to measure properties for any reason.

Works very well with a bit of practice

I purchased the Moasure to verify the placement of a building on a piece pf property. There were significant obstacles to taking traditional measurements, including a massive amount of underbrush, hedges and shipping containers in the way. Both of the front property stakes were buried under brush, and there were no straight lines of sight to be had.

I didn't get the Moasure Stick, partly because I knew there would be spots where I couldn't use it, and partly just for not wanting to spend the extra money. I should have bought it anyway. In the parts of the job where I could have used it, it would have made things much easier.

There's a knack to using the Moasure device, and it takes some practice to work it out. You have to be very smooth and quick moving from one measure point to the next, and handle the unit very carefully. When not using the stick, the timer that the device runs to tell you when to put it down really is too fast. By the time it goes yellow you should already be putting it down, and even then I often couldn't get it down fast enough to keep it from complaining. With the Moasure Stick it probably would have been fine.

As you can see from the picture, I didn't give the unit (or me) an easy job to start out with. For the two upper stakes I was literally crawling under brush and hedges to get the unit to the stake. That's not easy when you have to be smooth and quick. It's better in the flat open sections, but getting the unit up and down without jostling it is challenging. Still, it's not impossible; starting totally inexperienced, with some practice and planning I got a good set of points on my third try.

When I got the plot into AutoCAD and checked it against the measurements I knew from an official survey drawing, the 132' measurement was within a few inches, and the 162.33' was within a foot. More importantly, the angle between the two property lines was nearly perfect. I find that impressive given the roundabout route I had to take to get the points. The data was more than good enough to establish the position of the building with confidence.

All in all I'm happy with the Moasure. I'll have other uses for the device now that I have it, but from my experience just about anyone who would buy the Moasure should buy the Moasure Stick as well. If you plan to use the unit regularly you'll be glad you did.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is Moasure?

  • 99.5% for single dimension measurements. For example, a 4m length +/- 2cm

  • 97-98% for area and volume measurements, shape dependant. For example, a 16m2 room would be +/- 0.3m2

This makes Moasure ONE ideal for measuring for estimates and quoting e.g. for landscaping, artificial grass, garden design, paving, concreting, pool construction, playgrounds and recreation, sports courts, construction, excavation – and many other industries.

There isn’t a fixed limit to the distance you can measure with Moasure; instead there is a physical limit to the amount of time you can measure in a single measurement. This is determined by the available memory on your smartphone or tablet.

As this varies from phone to phone, we quote a “safe” maximum distance of 300m (1000ft) and a largest area of 10,000 sq. m (100,000 sq. ft.), to remain well within the memory limit of almost any smartphone. Having said that, we know customers who have measured a distance of 770m (2,500ft) and area of more than 25,000 sq. m or 6.2 acres (269,000 sq. ft.).

Are there any ongoing costs or subscription fees?

No, there areno ongoing costs or subscription fees.

Previously, exporting measurements was subject to a small monthly fee. However, following Moasure customer feedback, this monthly fee was removed.

The Moasure PRO app, used in conjunction with the Moasure ONE device, is completely free and this includes future updates and new features.

How does Moasure work?

Moasure leverages its patented motion measuring technology. It puts in your hands one tool that can measure any distance, height, width, level, angle or incline. All you need to do is move and tap.

As you touch down from one point to another Moasure plots each position and calculates all the relevant measurements at the same time. So, if you take a straight-line measurement from one wall to another, Moasure will calculate the A to B measurement, but it will also be able to calculate the difference in height, level or angle between the two points.

Intelligent Measuring

Moasure is an incredibly smart measure, working powerfully with all the data it collects. Touch the diagonal corners of a room and Moasure will produce length and width measurements and calculate the 2D area of the room all at the same time. It can just as simply calculate 3D measurements and volume of any object whether that’s a box for packing or a round table or piece of furniture to put in storage.

Moasure can also adjust measurements to ignore obstacles, so if you need to move around furniture or move through doors to get from one room to another, it will measure as if the obstacles and walls are not there. Moasure can also adjust measurements if you cannot reach in a straight line across a room.

We think motion measuring will change the way we think about measurement.

The Technology Behind Moasure

Moasure uses the same technologies that are used in rocket guidance systems to keep track of the rocket’s movement in space. Moasure uses the same principles with accelerometers, gyros and magnetometers plotting its position in 3D space, measuring g-force and rotation and taking account of the gravitational changes with altitude and latitude.

Moasure takes more than 500 sensor measurements every second as you move. Complex software algorithms process this data and calculate how far Moasure has been moved and rotated

As Moasure plots and measures at the same time, all you need to do is move and Moasure will track its position from point to point and give you the measurement. This means it is as easy to measure across a room from one wall to another, as it is the whole length of a garden; and as easy to measure a flat surface as it is a curved wall or a cylinder or something irregular like a run of pipe round the wall of the house.

Can I measure in both meters and feet?

Yes, you can choose to display measurements in either metric or imperial units from within the Moasure smartphone/tablet app.

Can I use Moasure to capture floor plans?

Yes, Moasure ONE can be used to measure up and create floor plans. We would recommend measuring individual rooms separately or the whole exterior footprint with your Moasure ONE device.

Measuring out a whole floor, with individual and dividing rooms in one measurement period, in theory, is possible, but in practice very difficult as it requires significant 'route' planning and any errors during the measurement, will mean starting from the very beginning.

For now, it would be best to measure each individual room and then seam them together using CAD (or similar) software.
